ABOUT THE TAX GUILD

The Tax Guild was founded with the objective of making available high-quality certified learning experiences in the fields of law, accounting and finance.

With over five decades of experience between them, and in the course of interacting with professionals, corporate employees, entrepreneurs, government officials and students in this duration, the founders felt there is a pressing need for structured learning opportunities for this community of people engaged in the fields of law, accounting and finance.

Most of the learning opportunities available today are either on the job or via 1 to 5-day conferences and seminars. The Tax Guild seeks to provide certified short to long term courses, in a structured manner, so as to enable people to learn in a classroom environment.

The Tax Guild also seeks to leverage on the learnings of highly accomplished and experienced professionals who are now retired or homemakers, by providing them freelance work opportunities in a flexible environment

At its core, The Tax Guild is about giving back to the profession.

Our Academic Board

Rohan K Phatarphekar

Rohan is a Chartered Accountant and Bachelor of General Law and has worked for more than 30 years, including 18 years as ‘Partner’, with Big Four/Consulting Firms in the arena of International tax and Transfer Pricing.

During his working stint in India, he has worked with PwC, KPMG, Deloitte and Grant Thornton. His work profile included heading the National Transfer Pricing practice for a decade, heading the National Tax practice, leading initiatives on Base Erosion Profit Shifting (BEPS) and Operational Transfer Pricing.

Ajay Lalvani

Ajay Lalvani is an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and holds a degree in Law from the Bombay University. He is also a member of the Bar Council.

Ajay has over three decades of experience in the field of taxation, and most of this experience was gained working with Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (1989- 2017). While at HUL, he moved steadily to head the tax function. His last position was Tax Director – South Asia with overall responsibility for India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal.

Kriti Chawla

  • Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary, LL.M. International Tax Law (King’s College London)

  • Kriti has nearly a decade of experience working in Direct and International taxation and has worked with consultancy firms such as Ernst and Young and Grant Thornton.

  • She is Special Invitee Member of the Committee on International Taxation, ICAI.

  • An avid writer on Transfer Pricing, her dissertation, research papers and articles have been awarded and published by Institutions such as Dickson Poon School of Law, Foundation for International Taxation amongst various others.

Ishita Farsaiya

  • LL.B. (Gujarat National Law University), LL.M. in Taxation with specialisation in International Taxation (Georgetown University, Washington D.C.)

  • Ishita heads tax practice of Aureate Advocates and Solicitors.

  • Ishita is also actively involved with the activities of International Fiscal Association (IFA) in India and is currently serving as the Deputy Representative for the India Chapter of the Young IFA Network

  • She has appeared before the ITAT, High Court and Supreme Court in matters pertaining to international tax and transfer pricing and has advised clients from various sectors on issues of international taxation.

Bhavya Bansal Goyal

  • Chartered Accountant; DIIT; Accredited Mediator & Negotiator.

  • Nearly two decades of experience in Transfer Pricing, International Tax and Dispute Resolution; She is a member of WIRC International Tax Committee.

  • Previous experiences - Heading the Global Transfer Pricing Centre at Philips India. Has also worked with PwC and EY earlier, where she has undertaken transfer pricing advisory, compliance.

  • Contributes monthly to the transfer pricing updates column in the WIRC-ICAI newsletter and also actively writes articles in various journals.

  • An active speaker at sessions in various Study circles of the ICAI on topics relating to tax litigation, transfer pricing and alternate dispute resolution.

Isha Sekhri

  • Chartered Accountant

  • Partner in Ajay Sekhri & Company. Prior work experience with EY.  More than ten years experience in the field of Cross-border taxation, transaction advisory, structuring and FEMA.

  • Editor of the Newsletter of the International Fiscal Association, India

  • Co-Chairperson of the International Tax Committee of the Chamber of Tax Consultants, Secretary of the Western Region Council of the International Fiscal Association and on the Managing Committee of International Fiscal Association, India.

Aparna Khatri

  • Chartered Accountant and
    Registered Valuer 

  • Aparna has close to two decades of post qualification experience, including more than a decade in Big 4 Accounting Firms..

  • She has assisted clients on taxation aspects ranging from pre-set up advisory, to structuring, implementation and ongoing compliance.

  • Her client service experience spans across MNCs, both Indian and overseas, across industries like Media & Entertainment, Telecom, Software Services and Manufacturing to name a few. •Her articles have been published by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India three times in a row in their esteemed publication, “Valuation: Professionals’ Insight”.
